This week Cae Glas II travelled to picturesque Willey in their Reserve Division Two Match, but returned with little to show for their efforts.
Willey II were asked to bat first and accumulated 152 for the loss of 6 wickets from their 45 overs. Liam Pritchard top scored with 46 for the hosts and there were two wickets each for Shaun Southern (2 for 23) and Nick Chesters (2 for 26).
In reply, at 6 for 2 and then 36 for 5, The Glas were fast heading for a humiliating defeat. However a fine rearguard action, led by man-of-the-match Nick Chesters (48) was almost rewarded with what would have been a creditable result in the circumstances. The fall of Chesters in the 42nd over was crucial and the visitors’ tail were unable to hold out against a formidable Willey attack, finishing on 121 all out, losing by 31 runs.
Willey II 24 points Cae Glas II 4 pionts.
