The improving season for CaeGlas 2nd XI continued this week with a second consecutive win; this time on their travels at Acton Reynald.
On perhaps the first truly summer’s day of the season, it was the batters of both sides that took the honours, with only six wickets falling to the bowlers in nearly ninety overs of cricket.
Their hosts were asked to bat first and, after a slow start against some high quality visiting bowling, would have been pleased to have totalled 150 for 6 from their 45 overs. Neil Pearson (60 not out) and Chris Morland (45) did most of the damage for Reynald and there were three notable run-outs for the visitors, which epitomised their excellent work in the field throughout the innings.
In reply the Nick Chesters /George Candler opening partnership continued their good run , putting on 80 for the first wicket with Chesters hitting 28 and Candler 54, his maiden half century for the club. Gavin Porritt (33) continued the good work and Aidan Martyn (19 not out) scored the winning run with a huge six over long-on, leaving The Glas on 156 for 3 and a victory by 7 wickets.
