A disappointing loss for Cae Glas Firsts – May 17th

The sun may have shone but it was a disappointing weekend for Cae Glas as both teams failed to register victory.

The first team, playing at Gatacre, lost a vital toss, and were soon in trouble as we lost early wickets. However, a patient partnership of 40 between Ben Hipkiss and Aidan Martyn steadied the ship as runs proved hard to come by.

Cae Glas finished their 45 overs on 106 for 8, Hipkiss finishing on 41 after running himself out when going well, with other notable contributions from Gaz and Pete Matthews, who each weighed in with 16.

In reply a solid start from the Condover opening pair made the final result look a foregone conclusion, but a battling fielding perfomance from Cae Glas briefly threatened an upset when they were eventually removed

in quick succession. Unfortunately, Condover regained their composure and chased the total down for the loss of 4 wickets with overs to spare.

Ruch – 2- 32 and Toothy- 2- 36 were the pick of the Cae Glas bowlers.

Cae Glas lost by 6 wickets.

Aidan's maiden half century couldn't have come at a better time! No wonder he looks pleased with himself...

Not too much to smile about on the day – but Aidan usually manages to keep cheerful…….
