Cae Glas I v Shifnal III – 9 August

Gaz waiting to bat

In case you’ve forgotten what Gaz looks like – here he is – looking a bit smug I have to say!

Cae Glas returned to winning ways once more on Saturday with a convincing 5 wicket victory over visitors, Shifnal III.

Having won the toss and invited the visitors to bat, tight bowling from Ruch  and Tim T meant Shifnal found runs hard to come by, with only former county player, Kevin Humphries able to impose himself as he made 56 valuable runs. Shifnal finally closed on 126 for 5 in their 45 overs.  Aidan, making his bowling debut for the league side, was the most successful of the Cae Glas bowlers with 2 for 24 from his 4 overs.

In reply, Cae Glas’s top order had another ‘poor day at the office’ as they slumped to 16 for 3, but a fine knock of 35 from Graham Ellis in a stand of 70 with Gaz, steadied the ship.

The Glas ran out comfortable winners as Aidan – 22 not out – and Gaz – 40 not out – saw us past the winning post with 7 overs to spare.
