Cae Glas I vs Corvedale I – September 6th

Cae Glas’s visit to basement side Corvedale on Saturday, proved to be anything but the straight forward victory ther visitors were anticipating. Having won the toss the home side found runs difficult to come by against some tight bowling from the Cae Glas attack. In particular skipper Keith Yapp (4 for 21) and Ruch Nimantha (3 for 25),were particularly effective and the home side were struggling at 97 for 9 until a last wicket stand of 40, taking advantage of Cae Glas’s struggle to find a fifth bowler, took them to 137 all out in 40 overs.

This proved to be decisive, as Cae Glas struggled to maintain momentum in the subsequent run chase, and despite a solid 23 from ‘heir apparent’ Stuart Eyres, it was left to inform veteran Gareth Edgerton to hold the visitors reply together as he finished unbeaten on 63 as Cae Glas held out for a losing draw, closing on 123 for 8.
