Cae Glas II came close to what would have been an impressive debut in Reserve Division 2. Playing Beacon II the Glas opted to bowl first and as usual performed well in the field with John Clarke taking an outstanding haul of 5-28. There were also a couple of important run-outs with Pete Bowyer making a direct hit to remove the all-rounder Marcus Clayton. Beacon were all out for 114 in under 32 overs.
Going in to bat Cae Glas started very cautiously with a slow run-rate. Only Pete Bowyer (43) played his shots with any freedom and he put together a decent partnership with Tim Smith (16) and then Shaun Southern (21) before both Bowyer and Southern were removed in the penultimate over of the innings leaving the tailenders to hang on for a draw. The home side ended just 4 runs short of the winning line on 111-9 but crucially took the draw points. Cae Glas II take 10 points; Beacon II take 11 points.
