Mark gets in some ring pulling practice……

A steady opening partnership of 48 between Mark Jones (17) and George Candler (15) gave Cae Glas the opportunity to build a defendable score with wickets in hand and 24 overs remaining. However the runs dried up and the wickets tumbled as Glas lost 6 wickets for 24 runs off 16 overs. A mini partnership between Dave Edwards (13 not out) and Simon Wood (18 not out) at the end saw Cae Glas stutter to 102 for 7.  Credit to Forton’s Sahil Masih for a fine spell of bowling, finishing with figures of 19 for 3 from 15 overs.

An unlikely victory seemed a possibility as John Clarke (7 for 2) and Shaun Southern (44 for 4) had the home team in trouble at 35 for 5.  However an unbeaten 35 from Richard Jackson saw Forton cruise to a 4 wicket victory with 9 overs to spare.

This was a timid batting display from Cae Glas, an inability to keep the scoreboard ticking with quick singles gifted Forton an easy day in the field.

Match result: Forton (24 points) beat Cae Glas (4 points) by 4 wickets
