Cae Glas had an afternoon to forget when they hosted visitors, Bishops Castle at Gatacre on Saturday.
Although in the first 20 overs the visitors found runs difficult to come by, the Cae Glas fielding and catching left a lot to be desired with 3 gilt edged chances being spilled and a number of misfields contributing to a very poor start for the home side.
In the last 20 overs however, they got their act together and a great spell of bowling from Sammy Pomampalan was the highlight for the home side as he took 4 for 29, as the visitors finished on 164 for 8.
Barry Poulton top scored with 49 and Rich Bifield had a knock of 28. The Cae Glas case wasn’t helped by the 28 extras they conceded in byes and wides.
In reply, some accurate bowling from Castle made runs difficult to come by, but at 60 for 2, Cae Glas looked in control. However, the loss of Ruch, brilliantly stumped by Price for 22, led to a flurry of wickets, and Ben Hipkiss (19) was the only other Cae Glas batsman to make double figures as they were dismissed for a hugely disappointing 78. Rich Powell finished with 5 for 12 from 13 overs.
