Cae Glas’s good form continued in their clash against 4th placed Church Stretton at Gatacre on Saturday.
The visitors, batting first, found runs hard to come by as the Cae Glas bowlers kept things very tight on a slow pitch.
Tim Turner in particular bowled very economically taking 2 for 19 in an unbroken 15 over spell, but it was Ruch Nimantha who was the main wicket taker with 4 for 16 coming on at first change, ably supported by some excellent fielding from the home side. Barry Richards helped himself to a couple of wickets at the end as Stretton were bowled out for 79.
In reply, Cae Glas struggled early on and 4 early wickets from Tom Crump, threatened to spoil the party, but a 40 run, 5th wicket partnership between Gareth Edgerton (26 not out) and Barry Richards (25), saw Cae Glas home, as they reached 80 for 6, winning by 4 wickets. Tom Crump finished with 5 for 22.
