Cae Glas made a welcome return to winning ways with a comprehensive 7 wicket victory over visitors Calverhall on Saturday.
Captain, Keith Yapp made the most of his opportunity, having won the toss for the first time this season by inviting the visitors to bat. Excellent bowling from Ruch Nimantha,(3-33 in 15 overs), and Tom Gardner, soon had the visitors in trouble as they collapsed to 46 – 5, but a patient re-building from the lower order got them up to 130 in their 45 overs, Gardner eventually finishing with 4-30, and Kyle Marsh taking 2 – 21 in a spell of hostile swing bowling.
In reply Cae Glas wasted no time in chasing down the total and knocked off the required runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 22 overs. Nimantha capped a fine day’s work with 40 not out, ably supported with a quick fire 27 and 22 at the top of the order from Ben Hipkiss and Andy Griffiths respectively.
Highlight of the Calverhall fielding display was a superb one-handed diving catch on the boundary to dismiss Cae Glas debutant James Neal for 18.
