This week , on their travels at Much Wenlock II, an unbeaten second wicket partnership of 130 between Nick Chesters (88 not out) and Andy Kemp (50 not out) carried Cae Glas 2nd XI to a nine wicket triumph, their fourth consecutive victory.
Much Wenlock were asked to bat and made a cautious start against the tight bowling of John Clarke and Shaun Southern, reaching only 32 for the loss of one wicket from their first 20 overs. However, at this point, with wickets in hand, a significant acceleration took place led by Ed Myers (53) to leave Wenlock handily placed on 148 for 7, Aidan Martyn grabbing three late wickets for the visitors.
In reply The Glas also made a cautions start and, at the loss of their first wicket in the thirteenth over, stood at only 22. Nobody was to know that this would be the first and only wicket to fall as first Chesters put the opposition to the sword followed by his partner Kemp who accelerated perfectly to reach his half century with the match-winning boundary.
Cae Glas 20 points Much Wenlock 1 point.
