Match Report – Cae Glas 1st XI v Acton Reynald – 25th May

Having lost the toss for the 6th time running this season,Cae Glas Captain Keith Yapp must have thought it wasn’t to be Cae Glas’s day when he strode out to the wicket with the Cae Glas score at 75 for 7 in the 30th over.

Ca eGlas’s top order had made a ponderous start against disciplined Acton Reynald bowling , losing a flurry of wickets trying to pick up the momentum with only Ruch Nimanatha  making any impression with a cultured 33, until Yapp(30) and vice-captain Gareth Edgerton (42 no), came together and put on 63 for the 8th wicket to take the Cae Glas total to 150-9 in their 45 overs.

In reply, Acton Reynald struggled to take the initiative against tight bowling from Tim Turner and Keith Yapp, and when Ruch Nimanatha  took 4 wickets for 29, and Gareth Edgerton polished off the tale with a couple of late wickets, Cae Glas were able to bowl Acton Reynald out for 123, to maintain their excellent start to the season and extend their unbeaten run.
