Having lost the toss Cae Glas made steady progress on a damp wicket. Positive knocks from Gavin Porritt (46) and George Candler (25) helped the Glas to 126 for 6 with overs 8 overs remaining, but Matt Haigh mopped up the tail (42 for 4) and the home team finished on a disappointing 139 all out from 37.5 overs.
Dave Smith (30 for 3) and Matt Coulson (17 for 2) put the visitors in trouble until Matt Haigh came in at number 7 to smash an unbeaten 62. With 10 overs remaining it seemed the game was slipping away from Cae Glas but tight bowling at the death from Steve Lockley and Nick Chesters removed the lower Pontesbury batting order and left the visitors clinging on at 127 for 9 off their 42 overs. This game had ebbed and flowed numerous times during the day and a draw seemed a fitting result to a great contest.
