It is with great sadness that we have to report that Mark Jones (‘Sarge’ to many), passed away in Wrexham hospital on 26th November.
Those who came to the curry night will have heard the news that he was poorly in hospital, but no-one expected this news.
Marky was a regular Cae Glas tourist from the early 80s and had been away with the club to Somerset and Herefordshire on many occasions before becoming a regular Saturday player up until a couple of years ago, when his personal circumstances made Sunday league cricket a better option and he reluctantly moved from Cae Glas to Brymbo.
An avid Wrexham fan, many of the club saw him regularly at the Racecourse ground, and he would often pop to Gatacre on Saturdays to catch up with old mates when he was able.
Our thoughts go out to his partner, his family, and his many friends at this desperately sad time.
The funeral took place today at All Saints Church, Gresford, and was followed by cremation at Pentrebychan, then a gathering at Maesgwyn Hall, Mold Road, Wrexham in his memory.
Representing the club were Andrew Dickinson, Ben Hipkiss, Andy Hughes, Barry Vaughan, Matt Coulson, Ian and Emma Holgate, Tim Smith, Andy Griffiths and Ruch Nimantha.
