Ellesmere having won the toss elected to bat first and made a steady start with 38 runs bring added for the first wicket. Their momentum was briefly halted when 3 wickets went down with the score on 50. The complex of the game changed with the introduction of Andy Hughes who took 6-4 as the last 6 wickets fell for 19 runs. Carl Ayling with 27 and Simon Appleyard with 21 batted well at the top of the order and John Clarke was at his nagging best with 3-31. A special mention goes to Jude and Marina who stepped in at short notice – they were magnificent in the field.
Chasing 101 for victory Cae Glas also made a steady start before losing 3 wickets for 7 runs. A 60 partnership between Shaun Southern 31 and Nick Chesters 20 took Cae Glas to the brink on victory before a nervy finish saw Cae Glas win by 5 wickets. Tom Appleyard 2-10 and skipper Jason Wirdnam 2-25 both bowled well for Ellesmere. A possible unique event was husband and wife Shaun and Jude Southern playing in the same team.
