Sat 13 July, Cae Glas v Chelmarsh

After last week’s victory against Prees, it was back to face tougher opposition this week as Cae Glas hosted league leaders Chelmarsh. It was day for records as the league’s leading run scorer for the last two seasons, Connor Glendining, took advantage of a superb batting track to plunder a record personal score against Cae Glas of a magnificent 182 in a Chelmarsh total of 296 for 8. The home side battled magnificently throughout sticking to their task despite the onslaught from Glendining, taking some excellent catches as they refused to buckle. Dave Edwards was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 66, but Nick Broadbent and Gary Davies also bowled with good control under the circumstances. In reply, Cae Glas were soon in trouble losing both openers in the first 10 overs, and only Barry Richards was able to take advantage of the excellent conditions, but when he was out for a cultured 45 no other Cae Glas player reached double figures as the home side were dismissed for a disappointing 94. They will be looking for greater application next week as they visit title hopefuls Madeley next Saturday
