Having lost the toss and being asked to bat first , part 1 of the plan was successfully completed. On a damp wicket, that was fast drying out runs were hard to come by. 51-1 at the drinks interval was a very fair effort. Part 2 of the plan partially completed. Proved to be a false dawn as with only 8 players the lack of a full team came into play as CG posted 104 all out off 37 overs. Tim Turner in his first game of the season top scored with 37, the skipper , broke a bat, and managed his first runs of the season with a patient 27 off as many overs and Tim Smith scored a typically stylish 16. In reply Chirk cruised to a 10 wicket win by simply pushing the ball in the many open spaces and hitting the occasional bad ball for 4. Young Sam Davies scoring his maiden 50. Part 3 of the plan , no where in sight. Losing by 10 wickets was a bit harsh as CG played much better than the bare result suggests. As always very pleased with the whole hearted effort of bowlers and fielders. Steve Dakin was particularly outstanding in the field. No match next week at Chirk due to the annual Chirk fun day. Stay tuned for the rearranged date.
