Cae Glas finally secured their first victory of the season in a close encounter with fellow strugglers Prees on Saturday. Batting first the home side started brightly enough racing to 20 off the first 4 overs, but excellent Cae Glas fielding pegged the score back and 2 run outs didn’t help the home sides cause .Hopley (21), Fowles(20) and Silvester(20), all got good starts, but were dismissed just as they started to get going, and a fine innings of 59 from skipper Phil Richards took the Prees total to 157 from their 40 overs. Pic of the Cae Glas bowlers was Gary Davies, who marked his return to the side with 3 for 23 in his 8 overs. In reply Ben Hipkiss and Ian Holgate got the visitors off to a solid start putting on 40 for the first wicket before Matt Coulson (19) and Gaz Edgerton (35 not out), edged Cae Glas closer to their target as they won with 9 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand. Cae Glas will be hoping that this was the turning point as they reach the half way stage and face league title challengers Chelmarsh at home next week.
