Season starts this Saturday!

Thanks to everyone who turned out this evening – and two weekends ago to do a spot of spring cleaning!

The pavilion certainly needed it. Toilets were scrubbed and cleaned, chairs washed down, wonky tables made good and the showers power washed until the tiles shone!

The Council has now withdrawn all caretaking services for the pavilion so it’s up to us to keep it clean. Expect your captain to allocate you a cleaning/tidying up job at every home game from now on!  If everybody chips in a bit and does their bit, it should be a fairly simple job to keep the changing rooms and social area clean.

Barry cleaning windows - or is he practising a diving catch? What balance and poise he's got for an old bloke!!

Speaking of captains, the first match at Gatacre this coming Saturday sees the seconds take on Beacon II.  So newly appointed captain, Woody, will be marshalling his side and motivating everyone to notch up a win. Go for it Woody – we’re right behind you!  Meanwhile, old timer, Keith Yapp, will lead his side out away against Beacon firsts.

Keith has announced this is DEFINITELY his last season as captain, so make sure you do him proud……

Think Gaz is mending a wonky table - but he could be looking for a piece of chewing gum he left there last season.....
