Tim Turner bowled superbly well – but took no scalps!

Cae Glas took a big leap towards Division 2 survival on Saturday with a superb home victory against promotion hopefuls Ellesmere. Asked to bat first, the visitors faced vastly improved bowling performance as they eased their way to 141 -9 in their 40 overs. Graham Cowey led the way with a patient 30, ably supported by Tim Davies (29), after Fraser Duncan had held the top order together with a measured 20. Tim Turner bowled superbly without much luck, but skipper Keith Yapp led the way with 3 for 26, with Ruch Nimantha (2 for 31) and Gareth Edgerton (2 for 16) giving good support.
Chasing 142 to win, an opening stand of 42 ensured that Cae Glas should not lose and steady batting from Ben Hipkiss (23), Gareth Edgerton (30), and a calm 16 not out at the end from Keith Yapp, playing his last league game for Cae Glas at Gatacre, secured the victory with an over to spare and 5 wickets in hand. Tim Davies was the pick of the Ellesmere bowlers with 3 for 32.
