Cae Glas’s visit to Bishops Castle on Saturday proved important in the division 2 battle for survival.
Asked to bat first, Cae Glas found the wet track difficult to negotiate as they struggled early on and were 46 for 6, but a stand of 51 between skipper Keith Yapp and Ruch Nimantha proved crucial as the visitors mustered a creditable 130 for 9, thanks largely to Nimantha’s 74 not out. Harry Palmer finishing with 4 for 29.
In reply, Bishops Castle started brightly, racing to 38, before Nimantha removed the dangerous Richard Platt for 27, and only Alan Lewis with 22 provided any real resistance as castle hung on at 99 for 9.
Ruch Nimantha capping a fine all round performance with 4 for 26 and a brace of wickets a piece for Ian Holgate and Gareth Edgerton.
Cae Glas claimed 14 welcome points and Castle 6.
