Cae Glas travelled to their last game of the season against Bridgnorth III’s knowing that a victory was critical to their hopes to avoiding relegation. Inviting the hosts to bat on an excellent pitch, tight bowling from Nathan Bartram and Gary Davies kept the score down, but without making the breakthrough required as Rob Healey and HenryRobert put on 53 for the first wicket. However, the introduction of Matt Coulson brought about a change in fortunes a he took 5 for 42 in a 12 over spell, accounting for both openers, ably supported by Barry Richards who took 2 for 38 as the home side finished on 154 for7 in their 45 overs. Ealey (36), Henry Roberts (31) and John White (33) being the main contributors to their total. A solid start was imperative if Cae Glas were to avoid last match nerves, and so it proved to be as Barry Richards and Andy Griffiths took the sting out of the Bridgnorth attack putting on 111 for the first wicket, Richards in particular smashing the ball to all parts of the ground for a magnificent 65. When Griffiths was out for 26, closely followed by George Candler for 0, there was a brief period of concern, but a solid batting performance from Gareth Edgerton and Ian Holgate saw the visitors home, as they closed the game out, Edgerton finishing the game with a huge straight 6, to finish on 30 not out as Cae Glas won by 7 wickets. They will hope that results go their way next week for the last weekend of the season as there scheduled last game was due to be played against Prees, who sadly folded earlier in the season.
