Griffer’s 50 helped the firsts to a well-deserved win

Yappy’s run of poor form with the coin continued on Saturday away at Ellesmere in a rain reduced game.

Having lost the toss and been invited to bat, the Cae Glas batsmen got off to solid start, and at the half way stage in the 35 over game, had progressed to 85 for the loss of just one wicket, with Griffer leading the way with a well struck 50.

The innings closed in the final over as the visitors were dismissed for 162.  Bajaj was the pick of the home bowlers with an impressive 7 for 34.

In reply, the the home openers found life difficult against the pace and aggression of Nimantha, and ably supported by Tom Gardener they soon fell behind the required run rate.
When Bajaj came to the wicket he capped a great days work by stroking an excellent 90, but fell in the penultimate over as the last man out, as Ellesmere were dismissed for 143, leaving Cae Glas to claim a 24 point victory.

Toothy was the pick of the Cae Glas bowlers with 4 for 31 while Tom G continued his good form with 3 for 32.
