Both Cae Glas games on Saturday got off to a sombre start as a minute’s silence was observed for former player Craig (Brummy) McSkeen , who died tragically and unexpectedly earlier this week.
When play commenced at Gatacre, the first team found Much Wenlock openers Mark Brown and Stu Walters in fine form as despite a much improved bowling performance form the home side, the Wenlock batsmen progressed steadily to 88 without losing a wicket. Walters fell first for a carefully crafted 40 while Mark Brown went on to top score with a well struck 92, before falling to Yappy, who took 5 for 45 as the visitors closed their innings on 223 for 7.
In reply, Cae Glas again struggled to dominate against a useful opening Wenlock attack, and only a solid 40 not out from Gaz prevented a collapse as Cae Glas could only muster 115 for 7 in reply to salvage a losing draw.
Richard Bill finished with 3 for 18 for the visitors.
