It was a blustery day in the 100 acre Wood. But it was even more blustery at Gatacre in a game played without bails and where both sightscreens were blown over. In a game reduced to 30 overs 3rd placed Allscot invited Cae Glas to bat first and it looked a good decision as the home side were struggling at 35-3 at halfway thanks to some excellent bowling with the wind at his back from Sam Minta with 3-9 in his allotted overs. Cae Glas gradually took control back with Andy kemp 25, Nick Chesters 33 and a breezy 44 not out from Shaun Southern set a competitive total of 127-6. Shot of the day goes to Andy kemp for a half volley cut beautifully square over point for 6 . In reply Allscott raced to 65-4 at half time and were well ahead of the game. That all changed as Dave Edwards dismissed Sam Minta for 23 and blew away the middle order with 4-16 . The 4th wicket being the turning point as the skipper took a well judged catch having ghosted in unseen to fly slip a few balls earlier. The tail was then quickly mopped up for an excellent 25 run win . Andy Hughes bowled well to take 1-10 at the start of the innings and typical committed ground fielding kept the pressure on . A touch test next weekend with a visit to top of the table Beacon.
