The weather didn’t quite materialise as forecast for Cae Glas ‘s long trek to league promotion hopefuls Wheaton Aston on Saturday. On a very tricky rain affected surface, Cae Glas lost the toss and the initiative in a weather reduced 35 over a side game. The home side made the most of the wet conditions early on, but a belligerent innings of 26 from Ben Hipkiss supported by some clean hitting from Gary Davies (23) helped the visitors to reach 108 for 7 in their 35 overs. After the tea interval, the home side capitalised on the drying wicket and outfield to make steady progess to the required total despite some excellent bowling from George Jones, Gary Davies and Matt Coulson. They reached their target in the 31st over for the loss of 4 wickets, thanks largely to 31 from wicket keeper Billy Curtis and 25 not out from Callum Murrell.
