Sat 12 June, Cae Glas II v Forton II

Another beautiful sunny day at Gatacre. Having won the toss Forton, after a great deal of thought, decided to bowl first.

Some early wayward bowling and a solid start from Andy Kemp and Paul England on a wicket offering generous bounce promised a decent score. 155-7 was certainly a decent score. Nigel Evans with 40 and a typical Shaun innings of 23 being the main contributors in the middle of the innings. Gareth Overthrow and Simon Dean , with an enormous 6 that ended up on the car park bank, pushed the score over 150. For Forton Sam Gill took bowling honours with 3-20.

In reply Forton showed why they easily chased down 190 last week in a 9 wicket victory by comfortable winning by 7 wickets with plenty of overs to spare. Faz Parkar and Daniel Haves both scoring half centuries to continue their good recent form. Despite the 7 wicket loss there was plenty of playing and missing and aerial shots , none of which went to hand. On another day there would have been more wickets and more points in the bank. Forton look to have a very strong batting line up and it would be no surprise to see them rack up a series of wins .

Condover away next week. Lets hope we have better luck than the 1st XI a few weeks ago !!!!
