Sat 13 Jun, Condover II v Cae Glas II

Having lost the toss Cae Glas batted first for the 3rd game in a row. Scoring runs was difficult against some very accurate bowling and a total of 145-7 was respectable rather than spectacular. Another good opening stand between Paul England (32) and Nige Evans (17) was backed up by Elliot Coulson (45 not out) and Gareth Overthrow with a PB 23. Wickets then fell quickly in a final push for runs. For Condover, Graeme Hughes was the pick of the bowlers with 3-18.

Sometime fine margins can alter a game and with only 1 run on the board Swerve Hughes though he had his wicket but despite the ball hitting the bail it was not disturbed and to rub salt in the wound went for 4 byes. That was the nearest Cae Glas got to a wicket as superb batting by Andrew Brooks (73 not out) and young Tom Farrow with a maiden 50 not out saw Condover to a resounding 10 wicket victory.

The seconds travel to Hinstock next week, a new ground for many players.
