With Ludlow skipper calling incorrectly there was little hesitation in asking high flying Ludlow to bat first with a Cae Glas side bristling with bowling talent. Cae Glas appeared to have the upper hand early on as Ludlow stood at 36-3 after 12 overs. However the batting strength was all in the middle order with a 70 run partnership in good time swinging the game in Ludlow’s favour as they posted 178-8 off 40 overs. Star man for Ludlow was Stuart Jardine with a very classy 78, well supported by Alfred Wall with 28. Bowling honours to Paul Williams 3-22 and Dave Edwards 1-24 for excellent bowling during the last 15 overs of the innings.
In typical fashion the start of the Cae Glas reply did not go to plan being reduced to 14-3 within the first 7 overs. Consolidation brought its reward as Tim Smith top scored with a seasons best 42 and shared stands of 35 with Alex Carter (18) and 50 with Paul Williams (22) capping a great all round afternoon for Paul who also took 2 catches. Cae Glas being dismissed for Nelson 111. Ludlow ran out comfortable winners by 67 runs taking them to 3rd in the League.
Next Saturday the 2nd XI are home again , the visitors being 4th placed Shifnal.
