The quest for their first win continues for Cae Glas as they slipped to an 18 run defeat with fellow strugglers Bridgnorth 3rds on Saturday. Inviting the visitors to bat, they started well taking 3 quick wickets to on a tricky surface. Young Henry Roberts kept battling away though and batted very maturely for an unbeaten 31 which held the Bridgnorth innings together as they made 126 for 7 in their 40 overs. For Cae Glas, Barry Richards and Matt Coulson where the pick of the bowlers taking a brace of wickets a piece, but an extras total of 37 including 32 wides was too prove crucial in the low scoring game. In reply, Cae Glas’s batting again failed to fire with only Barry Richards (35) really dominating, and when he was out to a superb delivery from Buxton, the modest total looked a distant prospect. A breezy 13 from number 9 Nathan Bartram briefly promised a tight finish, but when he was the last man out with 2 over remaining, Cae Glas were still 20 runs short and left pondering the impact of conceding so many extras. They visit Prees next week in another key game as they complate the first half of the season.
