Cae Glas kicked off their 2015 campaign with a visit to Willey in Shropshire League division 2.
The game, however, ended disappointingly as an abandoned game, having lost over an hour to bad weather, which prevented Willey being able to bowl the required number of overs at Cae Glas to constitute a completed game.
Having won the toss, Cae Glas opted to field, and the Willey opening batsmen took full advantage of some inconsistent Cae Glas bowling and raced to 60 in the first 10 overs. Opening batsman and skipper Nathan Garbett led the way, and it was he that held the innings together as Cae Glas fought their way back into the game, as the home side completed their 45 overs and finished on 217 for 9, Garbett finished on 98 not out while Gaz with 3-34) and Yappy with 2 for 57 were the pick of the Cae Glas bowlers.
It was always going to be a tall order for Willey to get their 45 overs in because of the lost time for rain, which meant they had to dismiss Cae Glas cheaply to have any chance of securing a result.
That proved not to be the case as the Glas comfortably batted out the 29 overs they had been given to chase down the target. The visitors decided from an early stage that a wet ball and slow outfield gave them little chance of seriously reaching their target and Willey may have regretted not declaring their innings earlier as we finished on 56 for 1 as the match was abandoned.
Willey claimed 10 points and Cae Glas 9 points.
