The firsts found it difficult to get going on a low and slow pitch at Willey on Saturday. The home side were invited to bat and made the most of some varied Cae Glas bowling in the first 20 overs as the Ball brothers Graham and Martin scored 67 and 25 respectively as Willey progresed to 188 for 9 in their 45 overs.
Tom G took 3 for 48 in 11 varied overs, but an excellent spell of bowling from Nick Morris, 3-42 and Gaz, 2 for 19 at the end of the innings, pegged back the home side as they threatened to post a 200 plus total.
Some excellent ground fielding supported the bowlers in the last 15 overs after a turgid start with Barry Richards taking 3 excellent catches in the outfield.
In reply, accurate bowling from the home side made runs hard to come by, but Barry R led the charge in the middle of the innings with some controlled hitting where he amassed 46 valuable runs before falling LBW to a ball that kept low.
Once he had gone, the total never looked threatened and only Stuart Ayres with a patient 20 not out was able to make any sort of score as the Glas finished on 148 for 7 in a losing draw where they claimed 8 points to the home side.
